Northern Connections

Northern Connections is an environmental project being undertaken across Northern Ontario with the goal of enhancing the leadership and capacity of northern conservation groups while building strong networks for conservation and community sustainability.
More specifically, over the next several years, the Northern Connections collaborative will be working to:
- Build forums (both physical and virtual) to bring conservation minded individuals together
- Use online networking and collaborative technology
to help northern organizations work more effectively together
- Build capacity amongst northern groups through workshops, seminars and other opportunities to share experiences and build organizational skills and expertise
- Utilize our enhanced network of organizations to reach a greater number of people with news and information regarding Northern Ontario’s natural spaces and environmental values
- Share lessons learned regarding effective collaboration and networking
Northern Connections is a collaborative effort between Ontario Nature, Environment North, The Anishinabek of Gitchi Gami, Northern Ontario Sustainable Communities Partnership, The Sault Naturalists of Ontario and Michigan, and Dr. Constance Russell of Lakehead University with the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
